After Petronas near Gelang Patah

Image
I refuelled the PCX with 5.09 liter of RON95 yesterday. The PCX travelled about 213.2 km with the same amount of petrol (refulled at Petronas near Gelang Patah). The average fuel consumption was 45.2km/l. Could be better if not because heavy throttling and lots of high speed journey. Before refuelling, the indicator showed 3 bars of petrol left in the tank. With nearly 3 litres left, it could have easily travel another 100 kilometres.

Ride to Kota Tinggi, Johor to Tandoori House

Image
After the first service, the engine is noticeably more refined and less in vibration. Acceleration is much smoother, gone are the harshness of the brand new engine. I believe things are getting better with the engine. Before the service, the engine was displaying 47.4 km/litre as the average fuel consumption. After the service and a refuel, I reseted the counter, and after more than 100 km, I am getting average of 44 km/litre. May be it was caused by my frequent in town short distance ride. Otherwise, I believe the engine oil is the culprit. I will continue to monitor. At Tandoori House, Kota Tinggi I don't get to ride much, only to short distances. Today, I went for a ride to Kota Tinggi, Johor which is 40 km from home. The traffic and weather was great for riding. However, the wind wasn't so kind. I have to be on the extra alert, especially when overtaking large lorries. The 43 litre Givi box could be more aerodynamic. But, I still love the box. 2 large full face - no...

The review that made me purchase the 4th generation instead of the 3rd generation Honda PCX

Image
When the 4th generation Honda PCX 150 was introduced in Malaysia, I was shopping for my first motorcycle. I have always like Honda PCX but the premium price it was made me shy away. I was actually looking for Yamaha NMax, bigger cc by a bit and cheaper. Yamaha N-Max The Honda PCX is priced at RM10,999 or about GBP2,000 while the NMax on the road price was RM9,100 or about GBP1,655. I first went to a Yamaha authorised dealer to look at the NMax 155 and then to a Honda authorised dealer to look at a moped when I bumped into the 3rd generation of PCX 150. I then realised how much better the fit and finish of the Honda PCX. The passenger's foot peg releases and closes with more solid and premium feel than those on the NMax. The brand new Honda PCX 150 (3rd generation) was having a clearance price of RM9,400 or about GBP1,700. I then tempted to buy the PCX because of the huge discount. Honda PCX 150 (3rd generation) I then started to compare the differences between the...

First service at 426 km

Image
My 2018 Honda PCX 150 (the 4th Generation of PCX) went for its first service yesterday. It had done merely 426 km before the service, but the authorised service centre (Kedai Impian Honda Skudai) called it to be serviced since it has been more than a month. Supposedly, a new motorcycle should be serviced after doing 1,000 km. I went in anyway as advised. The authorised dealer recommended engine oil for normal motorbike but I chose the above oil which specifically made for PCX for Honda by Petronas. It costed me RM25 or about GBP6. The authorised dealer also told me to replace the final gear oil which I did. But upon return, the manual said it actually needs to be replaced after 2 years. The final gear oil was RM10 or GBP1.80. Labour was free. The PCX's engine felt a lot smoother after the first service. Apart from the final gear oil replacement, I am glad I went in as told. Total amount paid - RM35.

Who Am I?

I am a father to 6 children, a working professional who have been driving for more than 20 years. I took up road cycling as a hobby and stopped for safety issues (crime). Due to traffic congestion, I am now on my motorcycle learning license, hoping to secure my full license soon. My motorcycle riding experience is not a long one. I tried Honda C70, Yamaha Sports 100, Yamaha RX-S, Yamaha 135LC, Yamaha TZM-150, Suzuki Address, Modenas Elegan (the old one), Yamaha RXZ and Yamaha 125Z.
