30,000 km services and update at 33,3XX km

The 30,000 km service has been done at 29,xxx km. As per the user guide, only the engine oil and the coolant (first coolant change since new) were replaced with new liquid.

The start stop system has malfunctioned since December 2020 (signing failing battery) and I have bought a new battery which arrived in January 2021 for less than RM85.00 including shipping, bought via shopee. The battery has been replaced this week, meaning the factory battery lasted 2 years and 10 month, after more than 33,000 km of travel.

Yesterday, the CVT's bearings sounded more rough than the month before, so today I decided to look for replacements. 2 shops that I went to (independent mechanics) told me that the bearings are hard to sourced and need to be ordered from Singapore (pricey, more than RM100). I remembered paying RM90.00 during my 15,000 km so I quickly went back to Honda Impian dealer. There may be an increase in price (due to bad economy). I paid RM110.00 for the 2 bearings including CVT cleaning service and labour. No more rough sounds after the service.

The PCX still functions like new.

First service at 426 km

My 2018 Honda PCX 150 (the 4th Generation of PCX) went for its first service yesterday. It had done merely 426 km before the service, but the authorised service centre (Kedai Impian Honda Skudai) called it to be serviced since it has been more than a month. Supposedly, a new motorcycle should be serviced after doing 1,000 km. I went in anyway as advised. The authorised dealer recommended engine oil for normal motorbike but I chose the above oil which specifically made for PCX for Honda by Petronas. It costed me RM25 or about GBP6. The authorised dealer also told me to replace the final gear oil which I did. But upon return, the manual said it actually needs to be replaced after 2 years. The final gear oil was RM10 or GBP1.80. Labour was free. The PCX's engine felt a lot smoother after the first service. Apart from the final gear oil replacement, I am glad I went in as told. Total amount paid - RM35.

18,000 km scheduled service

The PCX clocked 17,920 km this morning and I decided to bring it for service. According to the manual, the engine oil and air filter needed replacements. I went to 3 branches under AG Motor in Johor Bahru, and none of them kept Honda Jaso MB engine oil. Every branch told me to pick Honda MA engine oil instead which is against the service manual. I decided to go to Honda Impian-X dealership in Gelang Patah. It was less busy than usual. Perhaps many still prefer to stay at home during this PKPB enforcement. My PCX was serviced, and I was charged a total of RM61, consisting of RM23 for the engine oil and RM38 for the air filter. The previous service was done at near to 12,000 km and today I observed that the discharged engine oil only had a slight tint of grey which means it was made to last more than 6,000 km on the scooter.
